Imagine What You Can Actually Do In 15 Minutes

Planner on the table - even if we're booked out there is time to do something in 15 minutes

We have this long list of tasks, projects and activities that we need to finish and want to do. Some of those take a lot longer than others, perhaps an hour or two. We plan to dedicate a certain amount of time to those tasks and activities but imagine what you can do in 15 minutes.

Does this sound familiar?

  • On Tuesday after work I’m going to sit down for an hour and create a new blog post.
  • I’m planning on reading a book for half an hour every single day.
  • I’m going to go to the gym and work out for 45 min.

We have all these plans, but sadly we often just ditch them when life gets in the way, something comes up, we just don’t feel like it or we don’t have enough time.

Imagine what you can actually achieve and get done in 30 or even 15 minutes?

The majority of us have this all or nothing mentality. I want to go to the gym for 45 min, but now I only have 30 min instead of 45 min to work out. Na, that’s not enough time or it’s not really worth going for only 30 min.

The same goes for business related tasks, for example writing a blog post or content creation in general. You were planning to sit down for a full hour to do some content brainstorming, but all of a sudden only have 15 min, because you received a last minute meeting invite.

The majority of us decide to cancel those tasks and activities for that day all together and postpone them. But imagine what you can do in 15 or 30 min. I want you to still use those 15 min available to you to follow your original plan and brainstorm some content ideas. This way you’re ready to write about the content the next time. You will not have wasted those 15 min that you had available with something that doesn’t get you closer to your goal. Scrolling on social media and checking WhatsApp messages comes to mind.

If we postpone tasks, they will never get done in time. There’s always a good reason why to postpone something. But if you just work on it for a few minutes here and there, imagine what that can amount to?

It’s time to ditch the all or nothing mentality and make use of the time you have available to you.

What’s it going to be? 15 min, 30 min or nothing?
